The arrows on both sides of the date mean that the coin weight was reduced. Lettering : LIBERTY 1854 Reverse: Facial value in a wreath and the country name. "Half dime" is the old naming for the 5 cents coins, later known as "Nickels". Lettering : UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HALF DIME Edge: Milled.
